ABOUT
Michael Morris Jr. is a New York City–based professional dancer,
200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), and model from Atlanta, Georgia.
Michael began dancing at the age of seven and received his formal training through Atlanta Ballet's Centre for Dance Education before continuing his studies at Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts. His dedication to both academics and dance earned him recognition as one of Georgia's top young artists through the Governor's Honors Program (2011) and as a Gold Medalist in the NAACP ACT-SO Competition (2012).
After graduating with honors, Michael continued his training through full-scholarship programs with renowned dance companies including American Ballet Theatre,
Miami City Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Georgia Youth Ballet.
He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Classical Ballet from
the Boston Conservatory, where he was the recipient of both the Alfred & Patricia Houston Dance Scholarship and the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway Scholarship. During his conservatory training, he performed works by acclaimed choreographers
Dwight Rhoden, Uri Sands, Adam Hougland, Karole Armitage, Gerald Arpino,
Daniel Pelzig, and Andrea Miller.
Upon graduating in 2016, Michael accepted his first professional contract with Celebrity Cruises, performing throughout Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and
the Middle East. In 2023, he made his Broadway debut as a Swing in
Disney's "The Lion King". Additional professional credits include
Broadway Bares (Take Off, XXX, and License to Strip), American Ballet Theatre's Metropolitan Opera House Spring Season, and performances alongside entertainer Todrick Hall.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael discovered a profound appreciation for yoga. What began as a personal practice soon evolved into a professional calling, leading him to earn his 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification in 2021. He now teaches throughout New York City, where his classes inspire students to cultivate strength, mindfulness, and a deeper connection between mind, body, and soul.
Beyond the stage and the yoga studio, Michael is continuing to expand his career into modeling, bringing the same discipline, versatility, and artistic presence that have defined his work as a performer. Passionate about movement and storytelling in all its forms, he continues to pursue opportunities across Broadway, television, film, commercial, fashion, and live performance while inspiring others through the transformative power of the arts.
